American Red Cross Lifeguard Training includes CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, PDT, and First Aid. Students must be at least 15 years of age before the end of the class and complete the following prerequisites: (1) a 300 yard continuous swim using front crawl and breaststroke; (2) swim 20 yards, surface dive, retrieve a 10-lb brick from a depth of 7-10 feet, swim back 20 yards with the brick in 1 minute 40 seconds or less, and (3) tread water for 2 minutes using their legs only. Successful candidates must attend every class session; pass the written exams, perform all critical skills and three final skill scenarios. Class space is limited, so sign-up early.
