The American Red Cross Lifeguard course prepares students to obtain an entry level lifeguarding position at a pool. The course includes training in CPR/AED, first aid and water rescue techniques. Prerequisite skills include: (1) 15 years of age by the last day of class; (2) swim 300 yards continuously, demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing; (3) treading water for 2 minutes using legs only; (4) complete a timed retrieval exercise.
